El Forn in Canillo Celebrates Second Annual Festa Major with Mass and Botifarrada

El Forn neighbourhood in Canillo parish marked its second Festa Major on Sunday with a day of tradition, neighbourly gatherings and family activities, solidifying the event as an annual tradition on the penultimate weekend of September.

The celebration, launched at residents' request, opened with a solemn mass at the private Sant Pelegrí chapel. Participants then enjoyed a communal botifarrada at Cóm del Forn, the main venue that fostered a spirit of brotherhood. The afternoon shifted to a children's workshop at the same location, crafted to draw in families across all ages and encourage broad participation.

Canillo's major conseller, Jordi Alcobé, praised the occasion for building on neighbours' initiative. "The Festa Major del Forn consolidates an initiative that was born from the will of the residents themselves and which today we can already see as a new tradition for the area," he said. Alcobé stressed that such events matter because they enable people to reconnect, share moments and sustain community spirit. The comú plans to keep backing initiatives that bolster social ties.

Organisers positioned the festa as a communal and inclusive affair, focused on local customs. Last year's debut centred on inaugurating the restored 18th-century Cal Call chapel, while this edition emphasised ongoing neighbourhood reunions.
