Andorra la Vella's FestXic Festival Launches Second Edition with Strong Crowds

The second edition of FestXic, Andorra la Vella's family play festival, launched on Friday with solid early turnout at key sites like Carrer Callaueta, where activities quickly took on the event's distinctive character.

Cònsol menor Olalla Losada opened the festival, noting the strong initial response after last year's success. Nearly 40 activities are spread over three days—Friday through Sunday—across locations including Carrer Callaueta, Parc Central, and Plaça del Poble. This marks an expansion from the debut edition, with spaces designed for families to join workshops and shows comfortably.

Losada highlighted the event's homegrown roots, created entirely by commune technicians. "It's something that's very much ours," she said, emphasizing careful planning for this year's details. The longer run also leverages Catalonia's National Day to draw more visitors while balancing local and tourist participation.

Early Friday drew noticeable crowds to workshops and setups on Carrer Callaueta. Highlights included a family body percussion session led by Santi Serratosa of the Catalan band Gossos. Coming days feature theatre performances, a caravan-based mobile cinema at Parc Central, sandcastle building, and closing concerts by Ambauka, Xiula, and Pony Menut.

While Losada suggested a third edition might solidify its status, the promising start builds on positive feedback from the first year.
