Sant Julià de Lòria Gears Up for 23rd Medieval Village Festival
Fantasy-themed event returns September 25-27 with stalls, shows and local cultural acts
Sant Julià de Lòria will step back in time next weekend for the 23rd edition of its Vila Medieval festival, running from September 25 to 27. Around 50 stalls will fill the parish centre's streets and squares, offering a family-oriented programme under the theme "A World of Fantasy". The event blends markets, music, performances, crafts and interactive activities, drawing on local Andorran legends.
Key locations include the Mercadal dels Traginers along Avinguda Verge de Canòlich, recreating ancient trading routes. Themed zones feature throughout: Racó dels Encanteris in Plaça Major; Espai dels Trobadors at Placeta de Casa Comuna; Tocador Reial in Placeta de l'Església; Bosc Encantat in the Jardins de la Fàbrica Reig; and Refugi dels Menairons at Aparcament Reig Patrimònia. Plaça de la Germandat, dubbed the Heart of the Village, will host major shows.
Children can join workshops on witch calligraphy, fantasy creature crafting, lucky charms, medieval face painting and storytelling. Rides like the giant Torniquet and Drac will entertain, alongside roaming puppet shows such as El Drac Verd, El Chdong-Dong, Gnoma and El viatge d’en James.
Local groups take centre stage. Esbart Laurèdia performs medieval dances inspired by Andorran folklore—fairies, menairons and demons—on Saturday afternoon, followed by a joint show with Colla de Geganters on Sunday retelling the Dama Blanca d’Auvinyà legend, complete with a giants' planting and parade. Music highlights include a Sunday joint performance by Coral Rocafort and Petits Cantaires Lauredians in Plaça de la Germandat, plus Trèvol's concert at 5:30pm. Escola d’Art de Sant Julià contributes to Bosc Encantat with local crafts, student works and creation workshops.
The official opening comes Friday at 6:30pm in Plaça de la Germandat, featuring Líquid Dansa's Dones de Llegenda. In Troba Veritas will roam with traditional and medieval tunes, dances, announcements and sing-alongs over the three days.
