AMC Launches World's First Premium Western Channel in Andorra

AMC Networks launched AMC Western yesterday, the world's first premium channel dedicated exclusively to the Western genre. Available in Andorra via Amazon Prime Video's AMC Channels app, the service revives classic films from one of cinema's most iconic styles.

The debut aligned with the birth month of John Ford, a cornerstone director of Westerns. Its opening broadcast honored him with three landmark titles: *Passió dels forts* (1946), *Rio Grande* (1950), and *L’home que va matar Liberty Valance* (1962).

February weekends will feature the *Leyendas del Oeste* special, showcasing classics such as *Van morir amb les botes posades*, *Duel de titans*, *Arrels profundes*, and *Colorado Jim*. The lineup extends tributes to directors including Henry Hathaway, Howard Hawks, John Sturges, Sam Peckinpah, and Sergio Leone, alongside stars like Clint Eastwood, Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas, Charlton Heston, John Wayne, Henry Fonda, Joan Crawford, Robert Redford, and Paul Newman.

Viewers can expect titles spanning decades, from 1930s epics like *Cimarron*, *El pistoler esquerrà*, and *Caravana de mujeres* to 1960s and 1970s revisions of Western myths, including *Dos hombres y un destino*, *Bronco Billy*, and *Pat Garrett i Billy el Nen*. The schedule also includes Italian and Spanish-produced Westerns filmed in iconic spots like Almería and Hoyo de Manzanares, such as *El blanco, el amarillo y el negro*, *Els dies de la ira*, and *Fins que li va arribar l’hora*.

AMC Networks, which produces and distributes numerous TV channels and streaming platforms, currently reaches Andorra only through Prime Video. Company officials say they are negotiating to restore their partnership with Movistar Plus+, which ended over a year ago.
