The Andorran government has scheduled an extraordinary A1-level Catalan language exam on Friday, 4 September, at the Centre d’Exàmens in Sant Julià de Lòria, Carrer de les Escoles 30. The session provides 150 places, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis to residents and cross-border workers over 16 at the time of the test who need certification for residence and work permit renewals under Law 6/2024, the language law.
Registration opened online at 8am on 29 June via the e-tramits portal (https://www.e-tramits.ad) and closes at 3pm on 3 July. The written components—covering oral and reading comprehension, plus written expression and interaction—take place from 9.30am to 10.35am. Oral expression and interaction tests follow from 11am, with individual slots published on the Ministry of Culture website on 31 August. Results will appear there on 15 September, allowing successful participants to apply for their official diploma via the J1T022 procedure on e-tramits. Further details are available in the BOPA notice dated 3 June.
This initiative responds to demand from those who missed the June exam deadline. It draws on recent amendments to Article 18 of the governing decree, granting the culture ministry authority to organise such sessions in exceptional circumstances like demand spikes or urgent permit needs. Each extraordinary call must specify access conditions, exam structure, duration, venue, schedule, levels offered, participant limits, and results procedures.
The changes aim to make official Catalan certification more accessible and responsive, while aligning with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). They support Law 6/2024's emphasis on Catalan as Andorra's native and official language, aiding administrative, employment, and educational processes without affecting standard exam calendars.
