The Andorran government has not ruled out offering financial incentives to local content creators who produce material in Catalan. Culture Minister Mònica Bonell made the comments following Eixivern, the country's first gathering of content creators, which took place on Saturday.
The event highlighted challenges faced by creators, including the belief that using Catalan limits their reach and fears of online criticism. Participants, including Bonell, agreed on the need to "normalise" the language in digital spaces.
During the morning session, around 20 creators—mostly Andorrans—took part in workshops. They produced videos addressing how to handle criticism, build networks, manage finances, and improve promotion. The afternoon opened to the public, drawing about 50 attendees who shared insights and called for greater administrative support for Catalan-language content.
Bonell noted that the National Language Plan already includes measures to back such creators, with Eixivern as one example. Asked about economic rewards, she said: "We are not ruling out considering the financial aspect, which will be part of evaluating everything that came out of this meeting; we are not ruling it out."
The minister stressed the goal of breaking the perception that speaking Catalan restricts audience size or career opportunities online.
