Andorra's Auditori Nacional in Ordino has reopened after 18 months of upgrades, marking the occasion with a free concert featuring local pianist and composer Kic Barroc presenting his second album, *Entor*.

The government-organised event showcased eight original compositions inspired by Pyrenean landscapes, including mountain peaks, lakes and high-altitude terrain. Barroc's modern jazz blends these influences with bossa nova, soul and hip-hop elements, underpinned by lyrical improvisation and sophisticated harmonies.

For Barroc, performing at the venue holds special significance. He has played there before, including the launch of his debut album as bandleader, *Mon noM* in 2022. "It's a privilege, an honour and a great opportunity that I hope to make the most of," he said. He praised the improvements, noting that while they might not appear dramatic at first glance, significant enhancements include refined interior acoustics, top-quality dressing rooms, better stage access, improved seating for those with reduced mobility, and a highly effective new air-conditioning system that boosts audience comfort.

The pianist described the acoustic upgrades as elevating an already excellent space. "The inner workings of the auditorium have changed a lot, with finishes perfectly tuned," he added.

*Entor*, recorded at Underpool Studios in a sextet format with soprano and alto saxophones, trombone, drums and double bass, features a slightly adjusted lineup for the live show due to scheduling conflicts. Trombonist Joan Codina replaces the original player, while trumpeter Víctor Carrascosa steps in for the soprano saxophonist. Barroc said recent rehearsals focused on blending the new ensemble to match the album's cohesive sound.

Following successful performances of his debut across Andorra, Catalonia, the Basque Country, elsewhere in Spain and France, *Entor* represents a more mature evolution in Barroc's style. He emphasised jazz's broad scope: "It encompasses a wide range of music, but always with that touch of harmonic sophistication."
