Andorra tightens policing as Snowrow festival returns
Snowrow electronic music festival is scheduled for 12–15 March in Grau Roig–Pas de la Casa after a year off; police and organisers agreed on.
Key Points
- Snowrow returns 12–15 March at Grau Roig–Pas de la Casa after no festival last season
- Police held meetings with organisers and presented recommendations, which were accepted
- Organisers must warn ticket buyers that possession/use of drugs is strictly prohibited in Andorra
- Private security will screen entrants and hand anyone suspected of drug possession to police for arrest or control
Police director Bruno Lasne said people travelling to a country should know its laws, as he welcomed the return of the Snowrow electronic music festival to Andorra this winter. The police and other national institutions have held meetings with the festival organisers and offered recommendations, including that organisers warn ticket buyers via booking platforms that drugs are strictly prohibited in Andorra.
Snowrow’s first edition saw a large number of arrests; organisers avoided staging a second edition at the time to prevent further positive drug controls from damaging the event’s image. There was no festival last season, but it is scheduled to return from 12 to 15 March at Grau Roig–Pas de la Casa.
Lasne said the police will adapt their work to the event and continue to carry out necessary controls and arrests. He attended a meeting with representatives of the ski domain and the festival, where the police presented a series of recommendations that organisers accepted.
A large private security team will provide an initial filter at the festival. If security finds drugs or suspects someone of carrying them, the person will be handed over to police, who will take appropriate action. Lasne reiterated that organisers should make it clear to potential customers when booking online that possession and use of drugs in Andorra are completely prohibited.
