Matías D’Angeli, an Argentine DJ who has built a following in Andorra over the past six years, says he has achieved his major career goals after landing slots at two of the Principality’s biggest events this winter: Snowrow (elrow) and Hibernation.

The artist, originally from a small town in Argentina where electronic music was scarce, began sharing online mixes at age 14. By 17, after finishing school, he trained as a DJ and started performing at parties. Those early days proved challenging, prompting him to launch his own event series around age 20 or 21. What began modestly grew steadily, drawing 400 attendees to its final edition back home.

D’Angeli relocated to Andorra, where his career accelerated despite initial hurdles. He started with gigs at a sushi restaurant before securing a resident DJ role at Abarset, a key turning point. Now a versatile performer, he blends personal favourites like house, electro, and techno with whatever suits the crowd and venue.

“Andorra has been good to me, and I’ll always be grateful,” he said. “It’s a small country, so word-of-mouth matters a lot. Do the work well, and the rewards come.”

Success came swiftly this season when organisers invited him to both Snowrow and Hibernation—dream bookings he never fully anticipated, especially Snowrow. “I still can’t believe it,” D’Angeli said of the confirmation. “It’s a party I’ve dreamed of since I started. I feel like I’ve fulfilled my objectives as a DJ.”

He approaches sessions with flexibility rather than rigid plans. “You don’t prepare the set—you prepare yourself,” he explained. “You never know if the place will be empty or packed, or what kind of crowd will show up. Know your style and the venue’s vibe, then improvise.”

For Snowrow, he envisions tech house and festive tracks; Hibernation calls for darker techno sounds. The exact set will depend on timing and stage. While the Hibernation slot felt somewhat expected due to prior contacts, Snowrow was a complete surprise.

Looking ahead, D’Angeli plans a return to Argentina in April to revive his La Random event on a grand scale.
