Disney+ Unveils 'La Niña', Third Carmen Mola Series at Málaga Festival

Disney+ has unveiled its latest major series at the Málaga Festival, the third installment in the saga inspired by Carmen Mola's novels. Titled *La Niña*, the production premieres on 12 April on the streaming platform and simultaneously on Atresplayer, following a distribution agreement between the companies.

Filmed in the Canary Islands and various Madrid locations, the eight-episode series—each around 50 minutes long—continues the storyline from the well-received adaptations *La novia gitana* and *La Red Púrpura*. The Brigade for Analysis of Cases (BAC) remains at the heart of the plot, though its members grapple with fallout from prior investigations.

Inspector Elena Blanco, played by Nerea Barros, seeks some distance from her work while mourning past traumas. Meanwhile, Chesca pursues revenge tied to the criminal network probed in the previous season. The team uncovers the masterminds behind the Purple Network organisation, delving into its origins amid symbolism, mystery, and dark themes.

Paco Cabezas, who directed the first two series, returns alongside Miguel Ángel Trudu. The cast features returning stars including Lucía Martín Abelló, Ignacio Montes, Mona Martínez, and Vicente Romero, joined by newcomers Eduardo Casanova, Raúl Sanz, Pepe Sevilla, Santi Prego, and Daniel Freire.

Produced by Buendía Estudios Canarias and Diagonal (Banijay Iberia), with Atresmedia involvement, the series marks a key Disney+ project. The prior two seasons will soon join the platform's catalogue.
