Encamp's 31st Saló de la Infància i de la Joventut opened Saturday at the Complex Esportiu i Sociocultural with strong turnout on its first day, drawing families to new immersive features like the 7D cinema alongside age-specific play zones.
Organizers expect around 500 children daily through December 30, with the event shifting to Pas de la Casa's Centre Esportiu from January 2-4. Encamp's cònsol major, Laura Mas, visited the opening and described the gathering as a well-established draw for Andorran families and tourists alike. She praised its layout with distinct areas for different ages, blending technology, creativity, and active play.
The 7D cinema has proven an instant hit, offering five-minute films enhanced by sensory effects including wind, water sprays, vibrations, scents, lights, and colors. Youth technician Nelson Damas noted its immediate popularity, while Mas called it highly immersive.
Activities span three levels. The ground floor hosts dynamic setups for older kids and families: video game consoles with PS5 and Nintendo Switch on giant screens, virtual reality racing simulators, augmented reality experiences, foosball, arcade machines, multimedia shows, and workshops like face painting, AI digital creation, and "Pedala i Pinta." Giant costumed characters—polar bears, penguins, and roaming animal performers—interact with visitors.
The second floor caters to ages 0-3 with soft inflatables, mini trampolines, padded areas, and a new psychomotor motorbike circuit, extending access to the youngest for the first time.
The top floor delivers high-energy fun for school-age children: large inflatables, basketball hoops, tricycle races, and intense physical games.
Families have responded enthusiastically. Eleven-year-old Mariona loved the 7D cinema's motion and air bursts, while seven-year-old Neus enjoyed it but preferred the big inflatables. Father Jordi said his daughters anticipate visits a week in advance to meet school friends. Mother Maribel called it a festive Christmas moment for shared joy.
Staff monitor daily satisfaction surveys and feedback to tweak programming. Sunday added balloon twisting performances, Monday brings fresh workshops and animations, and Tuesday features the family show Lali Dance Factory. Both venues close with crowd-favorite spectacles: La Gran Festa in Pas de la Casa.
The event runs 4pm to 9pm, with daily tickets at €6 or full passes at €20 in Encamp (€15 in Pas de la Casa), available at sports facility receptions.
