The 31st MoraBanc Season of Andorra la Vella will present a major concert on Wednesday 9 December when guitarists Thibaut Garcia and Antoine Morinière perform at the Teatre Comunal at 20:30. The duo will offer an exceptional reinterpretation of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Goldberg Variations, a cornerstone of the Baroque keyboard repertoire, transcribed and arranged for two guitars after a year and a half of work.
Their adaptation focuses on achieving an unusual sonic balance for the two instruments. To this end the musicians commissioned two matched guitars from luthier Hugo Cuvillier, built from the same wood to ensure a compact, homogeneous timbral blend. The project is described by the artists as one of the most ambitious in their careers.
The creative process also had a contemplative dimension: Garcia and Morinière spent time at the Abbey of Solesmes, sharing days of silence and intensive rehearsals with the monastic community. “Music is born from silence,” they say, calling the project “the work of our lives: an eternal recommencement.”
The season’s programme will continue on 4 February with El Petit de Cal Eril presenting Eril, Eril, Eril, an intimate and emotional set characteristic of the Catalan artist. On 19 February 2026 pianist and composer Carles Viarnès will present Post, a project that blends minimalism, subtle electronics and marked poetic sensitivity. Dance will feature on 4 March 2026 when the Junior Ballet of the Paris Opera performs a varied programme including Allegro Brillante, Cantate 51 and Requiem for a Rose. The season will close on 21 April 2026 with a recital by countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński accompanied by pianist Michał Biel, presenting works by Baird, Handel, Karłowicz and Purcell that span centuries and styles.
