Hulu Greenlights X-Files Reboot Pilot with Ryan Coogler Directing

Hulu has greenlit a pilot episode for a reboot of the iconic sci-fi series *The X-Files*, with filmmaker Ryan Coogler set to write, direct, and serve as executive producer.

Coogler, acclaimed for movies such as *Black Panther* and *Sinners*, will helm the project, which aims to revive the franchise that originally launched in 1993. The original ran for nine seasons, spawned two films, and later added two more mini-seasons, becoming a cultural touchstone in science fiction.

Danielle Deadwyler, who has earned critical praise and nominations for recent high-profile film and TV roles, joins as one of the two FBI agents reopening the long-closed X-Files division to probe inexplicable phenomena. The identity of her partner agent remains unannounced.

The new series will echo the spirit of the original while adopting a contemporary lens. It centers on two contrasting agents who must collaborate to tackle paranormal events and conspiracies that upend conventional understanding. Original creator Chris Carter is on board as an executive producer.
