Andorran rapper Jordan MC, who has built a ten-year career performing across the country and tackling social issues such as housing and wages, is currently working on a solo demo recorded entirely in Catalan.

He says he began listening to rap around ages 14–15 and formed his first group, Triple Efecto, at 16 in Andorra; that project later evolved into Veloziraptors and continued to the present. What drew him to rap was primarily its capacity for social critique and its language — the way words can be shaped to deliver a powerful message, likening the craft to poetry and valuing rap’s directness in expressing deep ideas.

One formative moment came at a school party, when he saw a peer perform a prewritten rap on playback. Watching someone on stage made him think he could try writing and performing his own material. His lyrics are inspired by social criticism and his own life experiences; for example, at a recent concert at Poblet de Nadal he introduced and performed a piece about housing, referencing low wages and high rents as motivators for the song.

He observes that Andorra has always had a rap scene but it was small; as urban styles have gained mainstream traction, activity has increased. The scene has long been somewhat underground, but recent years show clear growth. He also notes greater institutional support now, and credits collectives like ADBattles for important work in developing the local scene. While many rappers favor writing in Spanish for ease, he says there are increasingly more spaces for work in Catalan.

On freestyle, he believes there is still room to grow: standards are very high outside Andorra, and although local talent exists, it is often less visible. He singles out ADBattles as instrumental in surfacing new talent and offering guidance to those unsure how to start.

Currently he is writing mainly in Catalan with the aim of releasing a solo demo. Having mostly performed in groups until now, he wants to do something on his own; he avoids setting strict deadlines but hopes the project will be released soon.
