The earliest routes remain the most popular: On són els bolets? in Canillo has attracted 105,498 visits and El Bosc dels Menairons in La Massana 76,434. The 2022 additions, La poció de la Bruixa Quela (Escaldes) and Rastres i Petjades (Encamp), have drawn 72,534 and 46,135 visitors respectively. Satisfaction surveys rate the routes 9.3 out of 10, a score the agency cites as evidence that the initiative is well established with both local families and visitors.
The trails are free to access and are designed to introduce children to nature and walking through play and discovery. To take part in the routes’ games, families need a specific booklet for each trail, available at tourist offices for €1. The booklets explain each route’s story, guide families through local traditions, beliefs and natural features, and include a QR code that can be scanned at the end to download a completion certificate; nearly 1,000 families have done so.
Andorra Turisme developed the Macarulla routes in collaboration with the parish councils to provide accessible, family-focused outdoor experiences across the country.
