Ordino's Cota 1.300 après-ski event launched on Saturday at Plaça de la Closa with lower-than-expected crowds due to snow showers, according to the Andorran News Agency (ANA). Despite the subdued start, the parish council remains confident the series will gain momentum in coming weeks, mirroring last season's success.
Jordi Serracanta, councillor for tourism, revitalisation and sports, said the event's return stems from strong community support. "After last year's success, we saw it was something people enjoyed quite a bit, especially locals, so we're doing it again this season," he noted.
The gatherings are scheduled every Saturday through 28 February. This year's music lineup introduces changes: sessions begin with softer tracks to build atmosphere, followed by DJ sets from Flaix FM staff, who are also promoting the event. Last season opened with live bands before transitioning to DJs.
The council maintained the €40,000 budget while upgrading facilities, including a larger stage and oversized heaters to improve comfort in the open-air space.
Serracanta expressed optimism about the event's potential, aiming to establish Cota 1.300 as an evening hub in the northern valleys for skiers and residents from Ordino, La Massana and nearby parishes. He described it as a relaxed spot where visitors can eat, drink and swap stories from the slopes.
