Grans Magatzems Pyrénées has donated €1,175 to the Fundació Privada Nostra Senyora de Meritxell, raised through the sale of 235 boxes of torrons featuring artwork from the seventh edition of the Art Cru Andorra contest.

The funds come from sales over the recent Christmas period. Representatives from the retail group handed over the cheque during a ceremony attended by Anna Jiménez, director of adult and elderly care at the foundation, and Rosa Manyoses, head of daytime services. They received it from Octavi Bardera, councillor for the presidency at Grup Pyrénées, and Albert Sabí, head of dry food category management.

The initiative, now in its seventh year since launching in 2019, highlights the creative talents of people with intellectual disabilities served by the foundation's daytime programmes. Around 40 drawings were submitted, with three selected: one for the torrón box lid and two as postcards inside the boxes.

Pyrénées officials praised the event's ongoing role in supporting the foundation's social projects and promoting inclusivity. "This initiative year after year contributes to backing the foundation's social efforts and showcasing the creative talent of those involved," they noted.

Other attendees included Carme Solà representing AUFARE, the association of users, families and legal representatives of the Fundació Meritxell, as well as Charline Bony and Martí Pons from the Museu Carmen Thyssen Andorra.

The contest is a collaboration between Grup Pyrénées, the Fundació Meritxell, Torrons i Mel Alemany, the Carmen Thyssen Andorra Museum, and AUFARE, aiming to foster a more inclusive society through art.
