Radio Andorra veterans reunite for AI‑augmented New Year’s Eve special

Jean-Marc Printz has gathered around a dozen former presenters, journalists and technicians of Radio Andorra for a live New Year’s Eve special to close out 2025, with a virtual cameo by historic announcer Victòria Zorzano and appearances from some of the station’s star personalities from its golden age.

Printz, who runs the Aquí Ràdio Andorra portal, has compiled an extensive online archive about the Encamp-based station. Together with contributors such as German sound engineer Christian Milling, he has restored and reissued old recordings — including programmes like Carte blanche and Contact — and published a series of posts under the title Histoire racontée Radio-Andorre recounting half a century of the station’s history.

The special will air on 31 December from 20:00. Printz will host and a roster of about ten former staff will take part live or by videoconference from Paris, Toulouse and Andorra. Named participants include Ramon Sánchez, Patrick Obrelli, Christian Guillard, Catherine Laurens, Alain Le Gouguec, Philippe Reltien and David Gérard. Each guest will present a record or artist they particularly admire.

Organisers say the show will aim to respect the station’s original spirit of eclecticism and broad appeal — programming intended for listeners of many generations, classes, languages and countries — with musical segments of about fifteen minutes, echoing Radio Andorra’s early decades and drawing from artists from the 1930s to the present.

The broadcast will use modern technologies: in addition to streaming video, the event will feature AI-generated virtual appearances, including one of Victòria Zorzano, the historic voice behind the station’s signature line “Aquí Radio Andorra, emisora del Principado de Andorra,” and simulated contributions from other golden‑age presenters such as Carmen de Monte, Lydia Linares, Paul Servant, Michel Avril and Jean Bonis.

Printz stresses the initiative is not commercial and does not seek to resurrect Radio Andorra as an active station; rather, its sole aim is to revive the station’s spirit for former listeners and professionals and to keep company with people spending New Year’s Eve alone. The special will be streamed live on the Aquí Ràdio Andorra website and on YouTube, with a podcast available on Mixcloud from around 02:00 on 1 January (the planned end time).
