Sant Julià de Lòria parish council has launched its Carnival 2026 schedule, running from 13 to 20 February and blending longstanding traditions with family-oriented and youth-focused events.

The programme begins on Friday 13 February with the customary school lantern procession through parish streets. The weekend features key attractions such as the Gran Rua parade with its float competition, a community botifarrada sausage event, and a costume dance. On Saturday, participants can join the Xtrem Race obstacle course, primarily for those aged eight and above, followed by the opening address and the raising of the Carnestoltes figure.

The council is calling for residents to join the parish's emblematic groups—Ninotaires, Dimonis, Porrers, Marratxins, and Bruixots—as well as Gran Rua floats. Registrations stay open until Monday 9 February to bolster these core traditions.

This year's additions include a Monday workshop led by Taller Tartera, where attendees can screen-print their own Carnival neckerchiefs using serigraphy techniques for a creative, personal touch.

Throughout the week, parallel activities support family reconciliation and boost recreational and educational options. From Tuesday 17 to Friday 20 February, families can choose from Artvacances creative workshops for children, Bibliovacances de Carnaval with storytelling and reading promotion, and the Campus Multiesportiu de Carnaval sports programme. L’Espai Jove will offer tailored youth events, including the Tuesday 17 unveiling of L’Espurna—the rebranded Espai Laurèdia Jove—as a renewed space for young people to socialise, take part in initiatives, and engage in local projects.
