Oliver Laxe's *Sirat*, with significant Andorran involvement, has earned Oscar nominations in Best International Feature and Best Sound.

Announced Thursday, the film advanced to the shortlist of five for Best International Feature, competing against Brazil's *The Secret Agent*, France's *It Was Just an Accident*, Norway's *Sentimental Value*—a fellow European Film Awards winner—and Tunisia's *The Voice of Hind Rajab*. Actors from *Sentimental Value* also received nods for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, while *The Secret Agent* and *Sentimental Value* vie further in the international category. In Best Sound, *Sirat* goes up against *F1*, *Frankenstein*, *One Battle After Another*, and *Sinners*. It did not make the final cut for Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, or Best Casting Direction.

The nominations spotlight Andorran contributions, including Laia Ateca as production designer, Carla Altimir as second assistant director, and Olga Ribes as production assistant. Ateca recently claimed Best Production Design at the 38th European Film Awards, where *Sirat* secured five prizes overall. The Best Sound nod is a first for an all-female team—Yasmina Praderas, Amanda Villavieja, and Laia Casanovas—underscoring the film's boundary-pushing nature.

These achievements align *Sirat* with Spanish-language predecessors like *La societat de la neu*, *Mar adentro*, and *Hable con ella*. The story follows a father and son searching rave scenes in southern Morocco for a missing daughter, evolving into a profound encounter with life's unpredictability. Winners will be revealed on 15 March in Hollywood, following Ateca's upcoming nods for Best Production Design at the Gaudí Awards on 8 February and the Goyas on 28 February. *Sirat* has previously excelled at Cannes, the Goyas, the Gaudís, and Critics Choice Awards.
