Streaming Giants Unveil 2026 Blockbuster Lineup: Thrones Prequel, Euphoria S3, Steinbeck Adaptation

Streaming platforms are gearing up for an exciting 2026 lineup, featuring high-profile returns and literary adaptations. Highlights include a Game of Thrones prequel, the long-awaited third season of Euphoria, and new series drawn from classic novels.

HBO Max kicks off the year on January 18 with *The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms*, a six-episode spin-off set a century before the events of *Game of Thrones*. Drawing from George R.R. Martin's *Tales of Dunk and Egg*, the series stars Peter Claffey as the knight Duncan and Dexter Sol Ansell as his squire, Aegon "Egg" Targaryen.

In April, HBO Max brings back *Euphoria* for its third season after a four-year hiatus since season two. The drama, which follows a group of young people navigating drugs, sex, love, and friendship—and propelled Zendaya to stardom—reunites its core cast while adding newcomers like Rosalía, Sharon Stone, and Trisha Paytas.

Netflix enters the fray with *East of Eden*, a seven-episode miniseries adapting John Steinbeck's novel. Florence Pugh leads the cast in this project, written and produced by Zoe Kazan, whose grandfather Elia Kazan directed the 1955 film version starring James Dean. The story centers on two California families in the years leading up to the First World War, though no premiere date has been announced.

Other anticipated releases include adaptations of *Pride and Prejudice*, *The House of the Spirits*, as well as new seasons of *Bridgerton* and *The Handmaid's Tale*, signaling a strong year for prestige television.
