Teresa Font Juanati took over as director of the Museu Catedral de la Seu d’Urgell on 4 January, appointed by Josep-Lluís Serrano, the Bishop of Urgell and co-prince of Andorra. She succeeds Mn. Josep M. Mauri Prior in the role, which carries an initial four-year term.
Font Juanati, an art historian, joined the museum in 2013 as a technician overseeing collection management, including conservation and documentation efforts. Her long tenure there has built deep familiarity with the institution’s cultural holdings.
She graduated in History and Geography from the University of Barcelona, specializing in Art History, and later completed a master’s in Heritage Management: Pyrenees, Museology and Cultural Heritage Management at the same university. She also holds a diploma in Arts and Crafts, with a focus on engraving and painting, from Barcelona’s Escola Massana–Escola Llotja.
The museum, an institution of the Diocese of Urgell, safeguards the sacred artistic treasures of the cathedral and other diocesan churches. It combines cultural and religious functions, while advancing the study, promotion and public engagement with its collections to foster societal cultural and spiritual development.
