The second edition of the Virolat urban cultures festival takes place on December 19 and 20 at Sunset Park in Peretol, introducing snowskate alongside its core offerings of graffiti and rap.
Organised by Andrea Camp, the event builds on last year's success in Canillo—the most rural of Andorra's parishes—by embracing a fully natural setting rather than urban spaces. This shift responds partly to limited support from the Canillo commune, which has shown little interest in hosting further events after graffiti adorned the Aranyeta wall and Sam Bosque structures last year.
Under the motto "Fora pista"—a nod to venturing off the beaten path—the festival unites disciplines that share practitioners but rarely intersect locally. Snowskate, a growing sport involving wheeled skateboards modified by removing the wheels for snow slopes, features prominently with a dedicated contest led by DJs Nil Graells and Ciretek. The site offers two stretches of snow park tunnel containers and purpose-built walls for graffiti artists.
The lineup highlights emerging local talent. Friday kicks off with an open rap battle at 7pm, with sign-ups 30 minutes prior. Saturday closes with a concert by Cire, a rising Andorran rapper. Graffiti participants include locals Marcel Llovera (Malov), Toec, Atom and Miski, joined by internationals from Paris (Pia, Kabrit), Barcelona (Tropidelia), Berga (Renoz) and Les Franqueses del Vallès (Yawe). Six winners from a Lycée school contest will create a collective piece, alongside a sketching workshop and an exhibition, *Paisatges subtitulats*, showcasing rural graffiti by French photographer Jean-Guy Ubiergo.
Camp emphasises nurturing homegrown artists, aiming to establish Virolat as Andorra's annual showcase for urban cultures in an unconventional, off-grid environment.
