YouTuber Salva Verdugo crashes newly bought Aston Martin in Andorra; alcohol test positive

Andorra la Vella — Salva Verdugo, a 22‑year‑old YouTuber from Málaga, was involved in a single‑vehicle crash in Andorra in the early hours of Sunday 25 July. He was driving a new Aston Martin Vantage, reportedly worth nearly €180,000 and purchased a week earlier, when an animal allegedly crossed the road. Verdugo says he braked sharply, the ABS engaged and the car ended up in a ditch. His partner, Nina, was also in the vehicle; neither suffered serious physical injuries.

Verdugo says he only remembers the moments before the collision, that he turned the wheel to take the impact himself, lost consciousness when the airbags deployed and regained consciousness when police and emergency services arrived. He was treated in hospital for several days and says he is not well psychologically following the crash.

Authorities report that Verdugo tested positive on an alcohol test and he faces an administrative sanction and a possible driving‑licence suspension. He has announced he will appeal the sanction through his lawyer. In a video posted to his YouTube channel — which has attracted close to one million views — Verdugo disputed some media reports and argued there is confusion over measurement systems between Andorra and Spain, claiming that “a 0.5 in Andorra would be roughly equivalent to 0.20 or 0.25” by Spanish standards. He also said no second test or blood analysis was carried out, insisted he was not drunk and pointed to a witness video showing him speaking coherently with police at the scene.

Visibly affected, Verdugo said he is the one who experienced the crash and its aftermath: “What was inside the car was me, I’m the one living a nightmare and I’m the one in shock,” he said. He added that if the collision had been caused by drinking, he would not still hold a driving licence. He also said he no longer wants the damaged Aston Martin: “To hell with the car,” he said, stressing that his priority is that his partner is okay and that he survived.

Verdugo, who has around 5.6 million YouTube subscribers, 1.7 million Instagram followers and about 900,000 TikTok followers, announced he will step away from social media for a time to process the events and face the consequences of the accident. He said he is unsure whether he will drive again and does not feel able to return to the crash site. Physically, he reports only injuries to his arm and a superficial cut to his neck.
