Andorra Approves 2026 Chamois Hunt Week and Extended Small Game Seasons

The Andorran hunting monitoring commission has approved the chamois hunting week from 13 to 20 September 2026, marking the start of roe deer and mouflon seasons in common hunting grounds. During this period, hunting wild boar, red deer, fallow deer, and fox will be permitted only through waiting or stalking methods. The decision emerged from a regular meeting on Thursday, chaired by Environment, Agriculture, and Livestock Minister Guillem Casal, which reviewed previous season results to enhance plan effectiveness and evaluated current wildlife populations.

Small game season will run from 27 September 2026 to 3 January 2027, with wild boar hunting extending until 28 March 2027. Hunters face limits of one hare per person and two combined captures from pheasant, red partridge, and rock partridge.

Spring counts show stable mouflon numbers in central Andorra, supporting quotas akin to last year. A comprehensive mouflon survey across the territory in July, coinciding with chamois counts, will enable adjustments to reduce damage to agriculture and livestock. In common grounds, the west allows 105 female or young mouflon and 105 males; the east begins with two males pending counts; and the centre permits 90 total (45 females in winter, 45 males across winter and summer), subject to revision. Up to nine slots are reserved for non-resident foreign hunters.

Private reserves plan 12 mouflon in Escaldes-Engordany (six females, six males), two males in Enclar, four males in Ransol valley, and two males in Sorteny natural park to curb population growth.

Roe deer allocations in common grounds include 125 females in winter and 125 males overall. Supplementary female quotas continue due to strong past performance, while male roe deer hunters and western mouflon hunters who meet initial male targets can request additional takes.

Youth engagement efforts persist with free seasonal and unaccompanied licences for under-18s, plus waived Andorran Hunting and Fishing Federation fees; other fees reflect 2025 inflation. Special licence holders must carry their permit, ring delivery document, and assigned ring while hunting.
