Over 300 Volunteers Set Record Collecting 1,800kg Waste in Andorra Ski Cleanup

Over 300 volunteers set a record for participation by collecting 1,800 kilograms of waste across Andorra's ski domains during the fourth Muntanyes Netes cleanup on Saturday, organized by Grandvalira Resorts and Ski Andorra to mark World Environment Day.

Staff from all three resorts—Grandvalira, Vallnord Pal Arinsal, and Ordino Arcalís—joined forces with partner organizations and members of the public. Among the groups were eight volunteers from Connectand, the corporate volunteering platform supported by Caldea, Creand, and SETAP365; eight from Protecció Civil; more than 20 athletes and technicians under 23 from the Andorran Ski Federation (FAE), Esquí Club Ordino Arcalís (ECOA), and Esquí Escolar; as well as participants from the Andorran Sports Federation (FEDA), EFPEM, Bomosa, and the environment ministry. L’Home del Sac handled transport and recycling of the materials.

Volunteers focused on litter exposed by the spring snowmelt, with quality and environment teams coordinating groups across various zones. Items were sorted and weighed on site to ensure proper management.

The event concluded with refreshments at resort restaurants to recognize participants' efforts.

Albert Rovira, quality, health, safety, and environment manager at Grandvalira Resorts, described the day as very positive. He noted that the mountains are cleaner as a result, though more work remains. Rovira also observed growing awareness each year, with increasing public engagement and involvement.

Grandvalira Resorts and Ski Andorra reiterated their dedication to mountain conservation and announced additional summer cleanups with local clubs and the FAE.
