The sixth edition of the Andorra Epic Pyrenées mountain bike race, a four-stage pairs event linked to Ironman and the Epic Series, will bring 520 participants from 50 countries to La Massana from Friday through Sunday.
Organised into 260 teams—including nearly 40 professional UCI squads—the competition represents one of the largest fields on the calendar. Spain, South Africa, and Switzerland lead the national representation, with 98% of entrants coming from abroad. Prominent Andorra-based riders Esteban Chaves and Louis Meintjes will debut, joined by locals Xavier Jové and Josep Maria Missé. The event kicks off one week ahead of the Pal Arinsal BTT World Cup.
Organisers anticipate around 1,500 total visitors over eight days, including riders and an average of two companions each. Tourism and Commerce Minister Jordi Torres highlighted the race's value, stating it delivers "a very important return to the whole country and gives us very important positioning." He noted that last year's edition generated about 9,000 overnight stays among participants, companions, and staff.
La Massana's Cònsol Menor, Roger Fité, called it "already a classic that we would like to see continue," adding that it provides "an important counterpoint to other events like the World Cup, but it's vital for us as a cycling parish."
The influx promises a major economic lift for hotels, restaurants, and suppliers while bolstering Andorra's profile as a leading mountain biking destination.
