FEDA Ecoterm's Andorra Heating Networks Hit 41 GWh Record, Up 11%

FEDA Ecoterm's district heating networks delivered 41 GWh of thermal energy during the 2025-2026 winter season, an 11% rise from the prior year's 36.7 GWh.
The increase resulted from infrastructure expansions across the three systems—Andorra la Vella, Escaldes-Engordany, and Soldeu—which operated from October 2025 to April 2026. Andorra la Vella supplied 18.3 GWh, matched by Soldeu, while Escaldes-Engordany provided 4.95 GWh.
These networks meet building heating demands, broaden energy sources, and help contain electricity consumption growth. This season marked the integration of Andorra la Vella and Escaldes-Engordany into a single central valley system, improving energy use and overall efficiency.
FEDA Ecoterm manager Alberto Manzano stated that expansions respond to local needs. Current projects encompass work on Na Maria Pla street in Andorra la Vella and enhancements to the Escaldes-Engordany chiller facility. He highlighted how the central valley linkup will optimize production and boost system performance this winter.
The networks advance Andorra's energy shift by lowering emissions and refining demand control. For cooling, the Escaldes-Engordany chiller upgrade will raise capacity from 1.4 MW to almost 4 MW, enhancing reliability.
FEDA Ecoterm also shared summer energy-saving advice for homes, including using natural light, pairing air conditioning with ceiling fans, cutting standby power, adding solar panels and LEDs, airing out mornings or evenings, shading windows in peak heat, and skipping midday ovens or similar devices.
