The Andorran government awarded a €19,048.40 contract to specialist firm Econet-Neteges Especials SA for emergency containment and damage mitigation following a diesel spill detected in the Os River on 20 December 2025.

The Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Livestock approved the direct award under an emergency negotiated procedure, with work covering the period from 23 December 2025 to 8 January 2026. Details appeared in a notice published Wednesday in the Official Gazette of the Principality (BOPA).

The leak occurred in the Aixovall area of Sant Julià de Lòria parish, at the same location as a prior incident in October 2023. Initial response by firefighters and environment technicians involved absorbent booms and mats. On 23 December, rising hydrocarbon concentrations prompted reinforcement with a Watergate barrier system, leading to the hiring of the specialist firm for ongoing maintenance and fuel removal.

The Environment department and Industrial Safety unit inspected nearby warehouses and storage tanks to trace the source, though no cause has been confirmed.
