Andorra Issues Yellow Alert for Widespread Thunderstorms Monday

Andorra's meteorological service has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms across the Principality, effective from Monday afternoon into the night.

The warning, activated earlier today, forecasts intense showers that could accumulate up to 10mm of rain in just 30 minutes, with hail possible in some areas. A thunderstorm front tied to a disturbance from west of the Iberian Peninsula is expected to arrive during the afternoon and remain active overnight. Conditions should stabilize on Tuesday as a North African anticyclonic ridge regains influence, bringing warmer temperatures.

In Andorra la Vella, minimum temperatures will reach 14°C and maximums 25°C. At around 1,500 meters, expect 10°C to 22°C, while Pas de la Casa will see lows of 8°C and highs of 14°C. Light southwest winds are forecast to persist.

Protection Civil urges caution, particularly for outdoor activities and areas near watercourses, due to potential impacts from heavy rain and hail. No incidents have been reported so far.
