Pas de la Casa Demands Probe into Encamp Flood Causes

Residents and shopkeepers in Pas de la Casa continue to press Encamp council for accountability following Saturday's flash floods, with Agrupament Encampadà demanding a detailed probe into whether ongoing renovations on Avinguda d'Encamp or ski slope maintenance work played a role.

The intense downpours affected multiple spots in the parish, including a sewer blockage, minor flooding at a Carrer Major pharmacy, and water damage to a restaurant terrace. Firefighters responded to several incidents, while council teams cleared mud, debris, and street blockages stemming from ski slope runoff.

Agrupament Encampadà, which holds no seats on the council, expressed solidarity with affected locals and businesses. The group thanked Encamp council's cleanup crews and other agencies for their efforts. It called for an in-depth analysis of the floods' origins, urging the council to hold the avenue's construction firm and SAETDE—the state roads operator—responsible if negligence in slope work or renovations contributed.

The group challenged the council's quick assertion that the damage came solely from slopes, pointing out that heavy rain fell with equal force across Pas de la Casa without similar issues elsewhere. It seeks clear explanations and concrete prevention steps to avert future episodes.

Council officials maintain the flooding arose from slope debris rather than the avenue project, though they acted promptly alongside firefighters and the COEX emergency unit. The incident stayed largely contained despite widespread rain, with public lighting on Carrer Major still disrupted that evening but the street cleared. More storms loom in the forecast.
