The Andorran government approved €20,000 in grants on Wednesday for nine projects focused on biodiversity and landscape conservation, marking the third round of a programme launched in 2024 and the highest number of recipients yet.

Environment, Agriculture and Livestock Minister Guillem Casal described the grants as a key tool for supporting efforts to study, protect and highlight Andorra's natural wealth. The initiative funds research into landscapes, wildlife and plants, species monitoring, environmental awareness campaigns and community projects linking biodiversity to public wellbeing.

Key recipients include ECOSISTEMES SA, awarded €7,371 for a technical, cartographic and visual study of natural monuments and peri-urban landscapes in the valleys of Sant Julià de Lòria and Encamp. This work will identify and assess the natural, scenic and cultural values around urban areas.

Another major project, receiving €5,016, targets wildlife prospecting and monitoring in the future National Natural Park of the Valls de Canillo and Ordino, using camera traps and field observations to expand knowledge of local species.

Outreach initiatives also gained support, such as Natàlia Rovira Molné's "Andorra, un país dins del bosc"; Lluís Casahuga Torregrossa's "Tempora"; and Projecte VIDA's "Arrels de vida". Albert Ruzafa Tomàs secured funding for efforts on invasive alien flora and tracking native plants of interest, while Jordi Tena Pera will produce audiovisual content to promote awareness of Andorran fauna.

Eligible applicants include individuals, non-profit public or private entities, and companies based in Andorra. The grants aim to advance preservation, research and promotion of the country's biodiversity and landscapes.
