Andorra is hosting an international youth training seminar on the connections between climate change, security, gender equality, and youth inclusion from Monday until Wednesday.
The event, titled Connecting the Dots: Climate Change, Gender Equality, and Youth Inclusion, brings together 18 participants from Andorra and other OSCE member states. Organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the University of Andorra in partnership with the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), it analyses climate impacts on human security, particularly how they disproportionately affect women, young people, and vulnerable communities in rural and mountain settings.
Foreign Minister Imma Tor opened the seminar by marking the 30th anniversary of Andorra's accession to the OSCE. She underscored the Principality's ongoing commitment to multilateralism, dialogue, peace, and European security, citing closer collaboration over the past five years via official visits and initiatives in security, cooperation, and sustainable development. Tor reaffirmed Andorra's backing for global efforts to secure a "just, global, and lasting peace in Ukraine" and called for greater female involvement in security and decision-making. She also pointed to Andorra's efforts to safeguard mountain ecosystems and prepare future generations through education.
Participants will take part in lectures, interactive debates, practical climate policy exercises, and a simulation of multilateral climate negotiations to develop leadership and bargaining skills.
The seminar supports the OSCE's emphasis on inclusive responses to climate issues and expanded roles for women and youth in governance. It establishes Andorra as a venue for discussions on sustainability, security, and cooperation.
The event overlaps with the 24th OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Autumn Session, due from Wednesday to Friday and hosted by the General Council with more than 400 attendees from 51 countries, including parliamentarians, delegates, officials, and speakers. On Wednesday, Head of Government Xavier Espot and Foreign Minister Tor are scheduled to meet OSCE Secretary General Feridun Hadi Sinirlioğlu.
