Andorre's Meteorological Service has activated a yellow alert for locally intense showers starting Monday afternoon, with possible thunderstorms, electrical activity, and fresh snow on high peaks due to cold air inflows. The warning follows Monday's precipitation, which totaled up to 20.6 mm at the FEDA central station—the heaviest recorded—and brought the snow line down to 2,000 metres, depositing up to 12 cm of new snow at Envalira. Overcast skies dominated Monday morning with scattered rain, but conditions are set to intensify from midday. Showers could turn stormy in parts of the country during the afternoon before easing in the evening, with clearer skies expected overnight. Temperatures will peak at 17°C in Andorra la Vella, 14°C at 1,500 metres and 4°C at Pas de la Casa, with overnight lows of 9°C, 6°C and 1°C respectively. The unsettled weather stems from a disturbance over the Bay of Biscay, which brought weak Sunday showers and continued into Monday night, whitening mountain areas anew after recent warmer days. Cameras at Ordino Arcalís, Cortals d'Encamp and Coll Blanc captured fresh snowscapes. Tuesday should see morning clear intervals before afternoon showers return to the Pyrenees, accompanied by cooler temperatures and a lower snow level. The pattern of spring variability persists, potentially impacting road safety and outdoor plans. No traffic or service disruptions have been reported so far.
