Andorra's Green Line Hotline Handles 245 Calls in Suicide Prevention Success

Andorra's Health Ministry has given a positive assessment of the Green Line suicide prevention hotline (177), launched in September 2024, which has handled 155 people and responded to five suicide attempts by activating emergency services.

In the first six months of 2026, the service fielded 65 calls while maintaining high standards of accessibility and care quality. No emergency activations were needed during this period. Overall, since starting operations, it has received 245 calls and enabled interventions in high-risk situations.

Most callers were women (63%), with over half (52%) aged 32 to 65. Officials described the data as evidence of the ministry's commitment to sustaining the service as a core element of the national suicide prevention strategy, providing immediate, professional support.

The ministry also praised the 'Totbé?' emotional support chat, aimed primarily at young people but open to all ages. It offers accompaniment for those in emotional distress and referrals to appropriate health services.

From October 2024 through the first half of 2026, the chat has supported 145 people via 373 conversations, including risk interventions with emergency activations where required. In early 2026 alone, it managed 80 chats and assisted 40 individuals.

Users were predominantly women (69%), with 53% under 18 and 46% aged 18 to 35. The ministry highlighted its value for youth and vowed to promote the confidential channel as a rapid complement to mental health services.
