Andorra's bone marrow donor registry has exceeded 700 registrants since launching in 2021, government officials announced on World Bone Marrow Donor Day.
The Health Ministry emphasised the figure's significance in a call for more participants, noting the registry's role in providing hematopoietic stem cell transplants. These procedures offer vital treatment options for patients with conditions such as certain leukaemias, lymphomas and other blood disorders.
Healthy individuals aged 18 to 40 qualify to join and remain on the list until 60. Registration begins via the programme's website at https://andorra.medullaossia.org or at Andorran Red Cross blood donation events. The Andorran Health Care Service (SAAS) Donor Attention Point finalises the process.
Officials continue to urge eligible residents to sign up, stressing that expanding the donor pool improves match chances and can provide life-changing opportunities for those in need.
