Creand Fundació is organising a workshop on Monday, October 19, for parents, teachers, and educators to deepen understanding of depression in adolescents, its causes, and prevention tools within family and school settings.

The session, titled Una mena d’estat d’ànim anomenat depressió, will start at 6pm at the Creand building in Andorra la Vella. Psychologist Jordi Royo, a specialist in clinical psychology, behavioural disorders, and dual pathology in children and young people, as well as co-founder and clinical director of Amalgama7, will lead the event. It forms part of a partnership with the Escola de Famílies run by AMPAEA.

The workshop will examine major causes of depression in this age group, how it manifests during adolescence, the connection between a high-achievement culture and increasing diagnoses, and the role parents can play in early detection and support for their children. Organisers aim to equip families and education professionals with insights for prompt identification and appropriate responses to emotional distress in teens.

Advance registration is required at inscripcions.ampaea.ad, with a fee of €6. The foundation has reported strong demand and intends to hold an additional session, with the date to be announced soon.

Creand Fundació will also host another workshop this school year in collaboration with Escola de Famílies AMPAEA, focusing on adolescent sleep patterns and factors contributing to reduced rest among young people. Royo will lead this event in February, highlighting the importance of quality sleep during this life stage.

These initiatives align with the foundation’s efforts to bring knowledge and training to society, enhance personal wellbeing, and promote social and individual progress.
