Andorran Pharmacists Propose Training Program for Pharmacy Assistants

The Col·legi Oficial de Farmacèutics d’Andorra (COFA) is advocating for a dedicated vocational training course in pharmacy assistance to address staffing shortages across the country's pharmacies.
COFA president Jesús Robinat confirmed that the organisation has submitted the proposal to the Ministry of Health, with ongoing discussions to evaluate its potential. “We've been discussing it with the ministry for a few days to see if we get lucky,” he noted.
Andorran regulations require every pharmacy to employ at least one qualified pharmacist to remain operational. These businesses also depend on support staff such as technicians, assistants and sales personnel, all supervised by the lead pharmacist.
COFA views the specialised training as an excellent way to develop new talent and bolster pharmacy teams amid rising demand. Robinat emphasised the sector's need for more workers, pointing to strong employment prospects and the benefits of health-focused education.
The Ministry of Health has yet to issue a public response on the matter.
