The Andorran College of Pharmacists has proposed a vocational training programme for pharmacy assistants to address increasing demand in the sector.
Jesus Robinat, president of the Col·legi Oficial de Farmacèutics d’Andorra (COFA), highlighted the need for such specialised training during an interview with the Andorran News Agency. The initiative has been formally submitted to the Ministry of Health, with recent discussions held to explore its feasibility. Pharmacists express confidence in its potential approval, pointing to robust local employment opportunities.
Every pharmacy in Andorra is required by law to have at least one qualified pharmacist on staff to remain operational, Robinat noted. Establishments commonly employ a range of support staff—such as technicians, assistants, and sales personnel—all operating under the supervision of the responsible pharmacist.
COFA regards the creation of a dedicated FP programme for pharmacy assistants as an ideal step to expand the workforce. "We need a lot more people in this sector," Robinat stated, underscoring the value of healthcare education and the job openings it could generate within the principality.
The Ministry of Health has not issued a public response to the proposal.
