Andorra announced electronic prescription pilot expansion from October 19

Andorra's Ministry of Health announced that a new phase of its electronic prescription pilot was scheduled to begin on Monday, October 19, extending the system to all primary care physicians and specialists across the country. The announcement said testing had previously been limited to professionals attached to the Andorran Health Care Service (SAAS).

The expansion is intended to gather feedback from the wider medical community before the system is definitively rolled out. According to the ministry, the aim is to observe how the tool performs in different care settings and to incorporate the observations of the doctors who will use it in their daily work.

The electronic prescription system allows medication prescriptions to be managed digitally through the Shared Clinical History, centralising treatment information and making it easier to track. The ministry says it should also improve coordination between health professionals and services, and strengthen patient safety through greater traceability of prescriptions.

The project is being developed in collaboration with SAAS and forms part of the Ministry of Health's strategy to modernise and digitalise Andorra's health system. The announcement did not set a date for the system's definitive entry into service.
