The University of Andorra's University Institute for Health Research (IURS), under the direction of Dr. Adrià Archilla, has launched its initial call for research project proposals, allocating €67,500 overall with up to €22,500 available annually.
Open to individuals, universities, research organizations, and businesses from Andorra or elsewhere, the initiative targets studies on healthy ageing, health promotion and prevention, chronic disease diagnosis and treatment, or epidemiology and public health. Approved projects will run for one to three years.
Beyond financial support, successful applicants gain access to UdA resources including experimental design, specialized lab equipment, data handling, biostatistical assistance, scientific writing aid, and help securing outside funding.
Proposals must be submitted by email to iurs@uda.ad, including all required documents outlined in the call's guidelines, with a closing date of 25 January 2027.
A committee of at least three doctoral experts will review submissions based on strategic alignment, scientific quality, practicality, benefits to Andorran society, collaborations with other research entities, and additional funding.
At the same time, the IURS released its Strategic Plan for 2026-2030, centred on four pillars: research excellence, establishment as a scientific services platform, national and international partnerships, and ethical, sustainable management. Highlighted efforts include advancing the Andorra Longevity Programme and initiating the Andorra Longevity Cohort, a longitudinal analysis of biological, environmental, and social influences on ageing.
Founded in February 2025 and linked to the UdA's Health Sciences Centre, the IURS seeks to strengthen health research across the Principality and improve public wellbeing.
