Firefighters airlifted a 16-year-old boy to Hospital Nostra Senyora de Meritxell after he fell down a steep embankment in the Les Vilars area of Escaldes-Engordany, where he was admitted for multiple traumas.
The incident took place yesterday afternoon around 2:45pm on the path to Sant Romà de les Vilars, toward Can Diumenge. A local resident alerted emergency services, triggering a response from firefighter ambulances, a Servei d'Urgències Mèdiques (SUM) team, and a helicopter with mountain rescue experts.
The rugged terrain complicated access, but specialists reached the boy—conscious after a drop of seven to ten metres—stabilized him on site, and hoisted him out in under 15 minutes. A SUM doctor examined him before the airlift to hospital, where staff confirmed admission to a general ward for treatment of politraumatismes.
