Andorra Opens Year-Round Covid-19 Vaccination From 2 November

Health ministry expands its campaign beyond January, offering shots to people aged 60 and over and younger adults with risk factors at primary care centres.

Key Points

  • Campaign starts Monday, 2 November and runs year-round instead of ending in January.
  • Targets people aged 60 and over plus younger adults with risk conditions.
  • At least three months must pass since last infection or most recent SARS-CoV-2 dose.
  • Flu campaign has given 3,484 doses since 6 October; RSV has given 764 doses.

Andorra's Ministry of Health will launch this season's Covid-19 vaccination campaign on Monday, 2 November, with shots available year-round rather than finishing in January, as in previous editions.

The campaign targets people aged 60 and over, along with younger adults who have risk conditions. The ministry said administration of the vaccine will be adapted to how the virus evolves, and that at least three months must have passed since a person's last infection or most recent dose against SARS-CoV-2. Appointments must be booked in advance at primary care centres, and people under 60 with risk factors will need a prescription from their primary care doctor.

Those recently vaccinated against influenza or respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) can receive the Covid-19 vaccine without observing a waiting period between immunisations, provided the three-month interval has elapsed.

The campaign also covers groups at higher risk of transmitting the disease to vulnerable people, including healthcare and social care professionals, workers in essential community services, and inmates and staff at the Centre Penitentiary. The ministry said arrangements for these groups remain unchanged from previous years.

Flu vaccination remains open, aimed at people aged 60 and over and at children with risk factors. Since that campaign began on 6 October, 3,484 doses have been administered.

For RSV, 764 doses have been given since the virus was added to the adult immunisation schedule last year, 63 of them this October. The ministry noted that people aged 80 and over, as well as those over 60 living in social care centres, can receive the RSV vaccine at any time of year, and that it is administered only once, without the need for an annual booster.
