  • Flu rate: 11/100,000 (down from 12.93), below threshold.
  • Elderly 74+ most affected group.

Flu incidence in Andorra has dipped slightly to 11 cases per 100,000 inhabitants for the week of 9 to 15 March—week 11 of surveillance—remaining below the epidemic threshold, the Health Ministry reports.

The latest figures from the ministry's respiratory virus surveillance update show a minor decline from the previous week's rate of 12.93 cases per 100,000, continuing the pattern of low notifications and small fluctuations. People aged 74 and over remain the most affected group by flu, as is typical during the season.

Acute respiratory infections (ARI) held steady at 131.61 cases per 100,000 inhabitants compared to the prior week, with children aged 0-4 years most impacted.

Virological testing revealed that 12.5% of respiratory virus samples were positive. Of these, 75% were metapneumovirus, 16.67% respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and 8.33% adenovirus.

Health officials continue to promote vaccination benefits. Nurse Mireia Castillo from the Canillo Primary Care Centre said at the campaign's start that greater participation would lead to fewer severe cases and hospital admissions from these illnesses.
