Andorra's public health service approved assisted reproduction treatments for 52 out of 71 women who applied in 2025, reimbursing €96,938.45 via the CASS.
The programme, launched in January 2023, has supported 157 people to date. Government figures show artificial insemination using partner or donor sperm as the most common request last year, followed by in vitro fertilisation and intracytoplasmic sperm injection with own or donor gametes, plus transfers of cryopreserved IVF embryos. Other approvals included embryo donation, preimplantation genetic testing, and gamete or embryo cryopreservation.
Demand has stayed steady across years. Authorities handled 74 applications in 2023, approving 53 and denying 21. The 2024 total reached 63 requests, with 47 approvals and 16 rejections.
State Secretary for Health Cristina Pérez described the service positively, citing strong user feedback since its introduction. She highlighted that request volumes match government projections, given Andorra's roughly 450 annual births, and stressed the policy's role in providing access regardless of financial means.
Most rejections stemmed from applicants exceeding the 42-year age cap, prior parenthood, medical contraindications, missing documents, or lack of a confirmed infertility diagnosis.
Patients may undergo up to two cycles at public or private clinics in Spain or France after CASS approval. Reimbursements cover 75% of costs at public facilities and 20% at private ones, subject to all regulatory requirements.
