Andorra's public health service approved assisted reproduction treatments for 52 out of 71 women who applied last year, reimbursing a total of €96,938.45 through the CASS.
The programme, introduced in January 2023, has now aided 157 people overall. Government data indicate that artificial insemination with partner or donor sperm topped requests in 2025, followed closely by in vitro fertilisation and intracytoplasmic sperm injection using own or donor gametes, as well as transfers of cryopreserved IVF embryos. Approvals also covered embryo donation, preimplantation genetic testing, and cryopreservation of gametes or embryos.
Application numbers have remained consistent. In 2023, authorities processed 74 requests, granting 53 and rejecting 21. The 2024 figure stood at 63 applications, with 47 approvals and 16 denials.
State Secretary for Health Cristina Pérez offered a favourable assessment of the service, noting positive feedback from users since launch. She pointed out that demand aligns with expectations, considering Andorra's approximately 450 births each year, and emphasised equal access irrespective of income.
Rejections mainly occurred due to applicants surpassing the 42-year limit, existing parenthood, medical risks, incomplete paperwork, or absence of a verified infertility diagnosis.
Approved patients can receive up to two cycles at public or private clinics in Spain or France. The CASS reimburses 75% of costs at public centres and 20% at private ones, provided all decree conditions are met.
