Andorra Issues Alerts for Gluten in Flours and Contaminated Infant Formula

Andorra's Ministry of Health has issued two food safety alerts concerning gluten traces in labelled gluten-free flours and potential Bacillus cereus contamination in specific infant formula batches.

The first alert targets two flours: Ametller Origen's 500g ECO bean flour (lot 423253085, best before 28 August 2026) and Veritas's 500g organic buckwheat flour ("Harina de trigo Sarraceno ECO s/g"). Notified through the European Union's Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF), these products pose a risk to people with coeliac disease, gluten allergy or intolerance, who should avoid consumption and return them to points of sale. The ministry confirms no health risk exists for the general population.

Separately, precautionary measures apply to Almiron Profutura 1 powdered infant milk (expiry 19 August 2027) sourced from Ireland. Although no formal RASFF notification has confirmed distribution in Andorra, affected lots have appeared in Spain, triggering preventive actions. Families are advised against using these products and to return them to retailers. Should an infant show digestive symptoms like diarrhoea or vomiting after consumption, parents should consult their paediatrician, though no direct product link has been established.

Officials emphasise returning all implicated items to stores and exercising caution, with further updates as probes progress.
