Around 80 godparents from parishes across Andorra gathered in Sant Julià de Lòria on Wednesday for the 10th Memolímpiades, a day-long event designed to stimulate memory and cognitive skills through tailored workshops.

Attendees came from various parishes as well as sociosanitàri centres in Sant Vicenç d'Enclar and El Cedre. The programme offered cognitive training in memory, attention, and reasoning tasks, divided into four levels. A key addition this year was a lower-level option for those with advanced cognitive impairment, promoting active involvement regardless of dependency.

The day emphasised social bonds with a communal lunch, followed by recreational activities such as musical bingo in the afternoon.

Sant Julià de Lòria's social councillor, Eva Ramos, highlighted the clear cognitive benefits of the sessions. She also underscored the event's value in reconnecting people from nursing homes and care centres. "We find people who knew each other from their youth, who now live in different parishes due to circumstances, but they meet here and it makes them happy," Ramos said.

Now in its 10th year, the Memolímpiades has become a key part of the parish's efforts to promote active and healthy ageing.
