Andorra la Vella council has signed a four-year agreement with the Andorran Women's Association (ADA), committing €6,000 annually until 2029 to support projects including the fourth edition of SexCode Femení. The pact formalizes previous informal backing, providing stability for initiatives that promote evidence-based discussions on sexuality, consent, intimacy, and affective equality, aligned with World Health Organization standards.
Minor consul Olalla Losada highlighted the agreement's role in enabling better planning amid persistent challenges. "With SexCode Femení, we talk about people and lives. We want Andorra la Vella to be a parish that breaks taboos, where no young person grows up with silences or doubts about their own intimacy," she said. Losada noted the selection of diverse speakers and activities to appeal across age groups, from early teens to adults who may still gain new perspectives.
ADA president Elvira Geli described the program as a vital forum for sexual health, emphasizing discomfort around female pleasure. "Claiming female pleasure is not frivolity—it's about health, rights, and equality," she stated, advocating safe spaces to address long-silenced issues. Previous editions drew nearly 250 young participants to sessions on pleasure, menstruation, and affective relationships, shifting focus from traditional risk-based sex education to holistic physical, emotional, and social wellbeing. Geli also stressed challenging stereotypes, such as centering narratives on heterosexual men.
Councillor for Social Affairs, Youth, and Civic Space Maria Nazzaro said the events serve society broadly. She pointed to social media's fleeting treatment of intimate topics, which rarely allows deeper analysis. "We live in a world where everything is a click away, and algorithms keep feeding us content, but we don't stop enough to analyze it, share emotions, or discuss our experiences," she remarked.
