20 Candidates Eliminated in Andorra Teacher Recruitment, Risking Vacant Posts

Twenty aspirants have been eliminated from Andorra's teacher recruitment process after failing the initial professional oral exam, leaving some permanent positions without viable candidates.

The Ministry of Education's first internal call aims to fill 28 fixed teaching posts—14 for secondary school professors and 14 for primary school masters—across nearly all Andorran schools, from nursery and primary levels to secondary and baccalaureate. These are structural roles targeted for permanent staffing to cut down on interim contracts. Priority goes to long-term interims with at least five years' ties to a school.

Of the 46 candidates who started, 20 did not pass the oral test, which required a minimum score of 6 out of 10. They can request a review. The weakest subprocess was for two masters of plastic arts positions: neither of the two candidates advanced. The French masters category, with 17 entrants for 10 spots, saw eight pass.

For primary education, the physical education masters subprocess (two positions) had four passes and two failures. In secondary, results were: six passes out of 11 for sciences professors (five positions); five passes out of seven for physical education professors (four positions); and two passes out of three for mathematics professors (five positions).

The process continues with a professional written exam on March 7, followed by a psychometric test and personal interview. Early results suggest not all 28 posts will be filled in this round. Top scorers will choose their preferred school first.
