Escaldes-Engordany council has launched a €500,000 public tender for the third phase of renovations at the Engolasters colony house, targeting key services and infrastructure to achieve full operational capacity.

Published in the BOPA, the edict seeks bids for a new services building with showers and bathrooms for children, plus an office-kitchen space. It also requires a 6,000-litre drinking water tank, septic tanks, and water and drainage networks linking all facilities. Contractors must submit electronic offers via the council's platform by 3pm on 18 May, with a maximum 16-week completion period.

This phase follows upgrades completed late February that increased capacity to 36 beds, on track for summer openings. The improvements support stays for younger children, who find the remote Ràmio site less suitable. Temporary bathrooms and catering services will operate during peak season, as in prior years, since these works will finish post-summer. Tender documents do not specify exact start dates.

Additional works include electrical enhancements, better lighting, air conditioning, hot water systems, and a secure pathway between buildings. The council will restore the 1940s workers' kitchen from the former FHASA guard house—linked to the Elèctrica company—for museographic purposes only. The space will recreate its historical look using original elements, serving as a heritage display near Engolasters lake.
