Andorra Police Arrest Several for Family Violence, Drugs, Drunk Driving

Police in Andorra made several arrests over the past weekend and week on charges ranging from family violence to drug possession and drunk driving.

In Sant Julià de Lòria, officers detained a 57-year-old man on Sunday night for alleged crimes against physical and moral integrity. The incident occurred at a private home during a family dispute, where the man confronted one of his daughters aggressively. He had assaulted her on at least one prior occasion. When the mother and another daughter intervened, they were also attacked. Multiple patrols responded to the call and took the suspect into custody, placing him at the disposal of the courts.

In a separate case on Sunday afternoon, police in Andorra la Vella arrested a 43-year-old man for alleged crimes against liberty after an altercation at his workshop. A group of minors had kicked and punched the workshop's glass. The man reportedly forced two of the youths inside against their will and threatened them with shears. After releasing them, one minor retrieved an 11-centimetre kitchen knife from home and discarded it in a rubbish bin upon police arrival. Officers recovered the weapon.

At a hotel in La Cortinada, a 31-year-old resident was arrested over the weekend for alleged crimes against property and home inviolability. He damaged several doors and forced entry into a room occupied by two others, causing approximately €2,500 in losses.

In Encamp, two men faced charges related to public health crimes in recent days. A 34-year-old was stopped early Sunday with a wrapper containing cocaine traces. On Friday night, a 24-year-old acted suspiciously in a public car park; officers found a paper packet with narcotic residues. He resisted violently, injuring two agents, leading to additional charges against public function and physical and moral integrity.

Drink-driving arrests last week included a 75-year-old man stopped Tuesday afternoon on Avinguda Salou, driving uphill in a downhill lane while overtaking a patrol car; his rate was 1.63. Over the weekend, a 46-year-old tested at 1.78 after a property-damage crash on the CG3, and a 49-year-old tourist registered 1.85 entering via the Riu Runer border.

Finally, another 57-year-old man was detained in Andorra la Vella for alleged crimes against the administration of justice and public function due to repeated failure to comply with expulsion orders.
